Webb City R-VIII School District – 2013 Bond Projects
Description:
Webb City voters approved a $9 million bond to supplement a $7.2 million in grant funding and $1.2 million from the district’s capital improvements fund to construct additions to seven existing schools. TOTH provided grant writing and administration services for the district and teamed with two architects to provide land surveying and structural engineering for all seven sites and civil engineering for five sites. Among the services provided by TOTH were existing facility review, population studies, site selection, environmental review, topographic surveys, and civil engineering design services.
Among the civil engineering services provided for these projects, our design responsibilities included a design of stormwater collection and conveyance systems for each respective site, parking lot modifications, access road design, site utilities, and site gradings.
At the high school, a 65,000 square foot sports arena was constructed, including a two-story, 37,000 square foot safe room. This dual-purpose safe room also serves as a gymnasium with spectator seating. The additions include a commons area, cafeteria, locker rooms, weight rooms, and classrooms. The arena is a 180-foot diameter concrete dome, and the commons area is a two-story steel-frame structure.
