State Highway 32 Sidewalk Improvements

Civil Engineering, Transportation, Projects

Description:

The State Highway 32 corridor through the City of Buffalo is one of the most heavily traveled roadways in the City.  There are currently no existing sidewalks along this stretch of road, posing a serious safety risk to pedestrians walking the route.  In 2018, the City and TOTH partnered together to prepare a grant application through the Missouri Department of Transportation’s (MoDOT) Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP).  The City received notice that the project was awarded the grant in January 2019 and selected TOTH to assist with the design, construction administration, and construction observation.

The Highway 32 Sidewalk Improvements is planned to consist of approximately 3,325 linear feet (0.63 miles) of new 5’ wide concrete sidewalk from the east side of the intersection of State Highway 32 and State Highway 65 to the intersection of State Highway 32 and Maple Street.  The project will include the installation of accessible ramps and stormwater improvements at the intersection of public streets.  All new sidewalk infrastructure will conform with the current ADA regulations.
