State Highway 13 Widening
Description:
TOTH designed the addition of a dedicated left-turn lane on State Highway 13 near Higginsville, Missouri. This stretch of Highway 13 is home to West Central Electric Cooperative’s (WCEC) headquarter building; because of the high traffic volume, WCEC’s large equipment would often have difficulty turning into and out of the facility safely. The project consisted of the addition of a 150-foot long left turn lane for northbound traffic and approximately 1,750 feet of total improvements to accommodate the lane shift. TOTH conducted topographic and boundary surveys for the project, right-of-way delineation and acquisition, design of roadway improvements, and construction administration. TOTH also coordinated with the Missouri Department of Transportation for design approval and construction observation. Construction cost was within four percent of the engineer’s estimate for the project.
