School of the Osage Early Childhood Center Traffic Analysis
Description:
As part of the design of a new 20,000 square foot Early Childhood Center (ECC) in Lake Ozark, Missouri, TOTH performed a traffic analysis and sight distance study for the proposed facility. The ECC was proposed to be constructed on the same campus as an existing elementary school. The City of Lake Ozark was concerned the addition of the ECC would cause traffic congestion during morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off times. TOTH conducted traffic counts for the existing elementary school and forecasted future trips for the ECC. Taking into account predicted destinations for the new traffic, the facilities staggered dismissal times, and proposed shifting of existing student population between the facilities, TOTH was able to show that construction of the ECC would not have a negative impact on traffic congestion. TOTH also conducted a sight distance study for the ECC’s proposed entrances onto public streets and at an existing intersection adjacent to the campus.
