Description:

UEC’s Power City Substation is an existing 28 MVA 115kV/12.47kV distribution station on the Owner’s system.  The high side of the station is configured as a radial tap.  Toth designed an expansion of the high side of the station to a four-position transmission ring bus.  Design included an addition to the existing high side dead end structure to accommodate a second 115kV line position, three new high side breakers, the replacement of the existing high side breaker, new switch and bus structures, new relay panels, ground grid additions, fence section replacement, and modifications to the existing control building equipment.

Services – TOTH’s design and drawing package services included electrical, civil, and structural engineering for the following aspects of the project: field topographical survey, steel structures, foundations, general arrangement, lighting, lightning protection, ground grid, auxiliary AC and DC systems, fencing, bus design, and material list. In addition to the design, TOTH produced and reviewed specifications for major materials (steel, breakers, switches, PTs, and relay panels) and the primary construction contract to assist the Client and its procurement processes.
