Description:

Ferrin Substation is a new 69/12.4 kV substation on Clinton County Electric Cooperative’s system southwest of Ferrin, IL. TOTH provided electric engineering design for this new substation so that it was ready to be energized. This substation replaced the old substation located adjacent to the new one. Construction consisted of:

• Installation of below grade assembly items including low voltage and primary underground conduit
• The pulling and terminating of low voltage wiring
• Installation of grounding grid conductor with its inter-grid connections and grid connections to steel structures
• Grounding platforms
• Station equipment
• The station fence
• Tying to the adjacent existing grid
• Yard surfacing
• Installation of the station chain-link fence
• Erection of steel poles
• Mounting and connection of all station equipment and bus work
