City of West Plains – Water System Study
Description:
The City of West Plains selected the team of TOTH to conduct an evaluation of their existing water system. The City’s water treatment plant was the first Actiflo ballasted flocculation plant constructed in the state of Missouri. Constructed in 2001, it has a permitted capacity of 3.7 million gallons per day (MGD) for the City’s 12,000 inhabitants.
Replacement and upgrades to existing equipment and structures are necessary to continue producing and delivering quality drinking water. Over time, deterioration of assets affects performance, operator flexibility, and reliability, which limit the overall capacity of the system.
TOTH’s project team provided engineering consultation that included evaluating the City’s existing water production, water transmission, water treatment, and water storage systems. Recommendations included several immediate upgrades to the existing treatment plant and future treatment capacity and storage capacity improvements. In total, almost $45 million of improvements have been proposed over the next 20 years.
