City of Buffalo- Water Tower Improvements
Description:
The City of Buffalo’s first water tower was constructed in 1926. Over the years the maintenance costs on the almost 100-year old tower had become prohibitive; in addition, the tower’s single fill pipe configuration did not provide the required disinfection contact time for the City’s chlorination system. TOTH provided design and construction phase services for a new 100,000 steel pedosphere tower replacement. As part of the project, piping between the new tower and the adjacent well was reconfigured to provide adequate chlorine contact time as required by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Due to the site’s proximity to Buffalo’s municipal airport, FAA regulations dictated that the new tower be constructed in the same location as the original tower. Site planning also made accommodations for a future expansion to the City of Buffalo’s fire department located on the same property.
