Transmission Planning Engineer

Toth & Associates, Inc. is hiring an Electrical Engineer with 3+ years, preferably 8+ years of Electrical System Planning experience. As a planning electrical engineer at Toth & Associates, you will work on all aspects of planning studies and distribution design for electric utility systems, including: Construction Work Plans, Long Range Plans, System Studies, Generation Interconnection Studies, Environmental Reports, Power Factor Studies, Flicker Studies, Arc Flash Studies, Load Flow Analysis, Contingency Analysis, Protection Coordination, and Sectionalizing Studies, Distribution Line Design, and Work Order Review.

A qualified applicant must have good interpersonal skills as the job requires management of projects and team members as well as meeting and working closely with clients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program is required
  • 3+ years of experience as a consulting engineer in electrical utility planning or 3+ years of experience as a utility system engineer
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints
  • Experience tracking project information such as: schedules, preparing status reports, client interface
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Milsoft (preferred), CYME, or Synergi
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Familiarity with the NESC and RUS standards as they relate distribution design and planning.

 Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • PE license
  • Experience with Distributed Generation
  • Experience with PowerWorld Simulator
  • Experience with Aspen OneLiner
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Experience interfacing with Regional Transmission Operators, NERC, or other regulatory agencies
  • GIS Experience with ESRI, Futura, NISC, or WindMil Map
  • Programming experience
  • Experience staking distribution lines
