Experience:

Darrel possesses over 19 years of experience as an electric utility engineer for public municipal and cooperative utilities and has served as lead engineer and project manager on numerous substation projects. He joined Toth with substation project experience that includes power transformer and feeder bay expansions, power transformer replacements, metal clad switchgear replacements, feeder recloser and breaker replacements, and protective relay replacements. He has extensive experience working with protection and control equipment, including work on relays, recloser controllers, regulator controllers, RTUs, meters, and SCADA systems.

Darrel’s work with utilities has allowed him to fill a wide range of roles on substation projects, including project management, material procurement, design, equipment programming, field inspection, and commissioning. He understands that good substation design starts by focusing on the client. By working with the client to understand their standards and preferences, he can develop designs that are familiar to client personnel and provide operational flexibility within the client’s existing system.
