Chris DesLauriers, PE
Civil Engineer Project Manager
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Structural Emphasis) | Portland State University
Experience:
Chris has been providing project management, business development, and mentorship training for the past 12 years. He has served as a Principal and Director of Civil Engineering during an ownership transition and for four years, where he trained and developed entry-level and junior engineers and expanded the company’s civil department and client base. He has a broad spectrum of knowledge and expertise across the civil engineering spectrum, supporting projects from planning through construction.
He has over 20 years of professional experience directly related to the construction industry in civil and structural design, and he worked in the construction labor industry for over six years. He eventually left construction after obtaining his bachelor’s degree to pursue a career in engineering design and consulting. With his experience in construction and management, and his understanding of architectural and structural systems, his expertise is often sought by local developers to solve complex design problems on steep hillside and redevelopment projects.
Chris provides project planning and land use services across the full range of civil site project types and industries, from single-family custom homes to large subdivisions, mixed-use apartments, and large industrial projects. He has experience with public and private utilities; roadway geometrics for intersection improvements; pedestrian facilities; roadway and highway design; sanitary sewer collection, conveyance, and pumping systems; and stormwater hydraulic and hydrologic modeling for water quality and detention systems. He has supported projects of all sizes across the Pacific Northwest and Midwestern states. He also has a working knowledge of the Army Corps permitting process for floodplain modifications.
Additional valuable experience and expertise include structural analysis and systems, including retaining systems and elevated roadways; large-diameter tunnel boring for utility crossings of river systems and highways; and complex grading, earth dams, and fire pond storage systems. His capabilities include all aspects of design from concept planning through construction, including cost estimating, aiding the preparation of contract documents, and construction administration. He has teamed with multiple disciplines and client types to help develop economical solutions for each project.
