Description:

Toth and associates provided structural engineering services as well as grant writing and administration for the construction of a new FEMA safe room for the City of Jackson, Missouri. The safe room is 11,700 square feet and serves as a Community Center for the City. During a severe weather event, the FEMA safe room has a maximum occupancy of 1,990 people. The project incorporated a new gymnasium with walking track, restrooms, community hall, meeting rooms, historical display area, office space, community room, and cardio/workout area. The gymnasium and restroom areas act as the FEMA safe room.

Grant Services

Since May 2012, TOTH has assisted the City of Jackson in securing more than $3.3 million dollars in FEMA funding. TOTH oversaw preparation and administration services for the grant, which was used to construct this Community Center for the City, which also serves as a FEMA tornado safe room.

Structural Services

The structural services TOTH provided for this project included drilled piers, cast-in-place concrete, pre-cast structural concrete, structural steel framing, architecturally exposed structural steel framing, steel joist framing, steel decking, and cold-formed metal framing.
