Quick Glance: 115/4.16 kV Capacity Upgrades, 42 MVA

Description:

The Blalock Substation Upgrade project consisted of capacity upgrades to the 4.16kV substation facilities. The project replaced existing voltage regulators with larger units, replaced the station service transformer with a larger unit, and added two feeder breakers with their associated conduits, wiring, relays, grounding, and jumpers. The work also included modification to the control building for new conduit entrances, removal of existing relaying devices, and modifications to existing steel structures. The substation upgrades were accomplished to support a request for increased loads to be served outside of the station and were performed during scheduled maintenance of the loads.

Services – TOTH’s design and drawing package services included electrical, civil, and structural engineering for the following aspects of the project: grading, foundations, steel structure modifications, general arrangement, ground grid, conduit plan, cable schedule, auxiliary AC and DC systems, control building modification, relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, and material lists. In addition to the design, TOTH produced and reviewed specifications for regulators, breakers, and switches and prepared and administered the primary construction contract.
