Description:

Hookdale Substation is a new distribution level switching station for Southwestern Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SWECI). SWECI had an existing meter point with Ameren and “substation-on-a-stick” that they wanted to upgrade for increased flexibility and reliability. The substation was designed to handle a maximum of 7500kVA and included three feeder circuits. Also included was new metering, voltage regulators, an upgraded SCADA point, upgraded AMR system, and electronically controlled distribution reclosers.

Tasks performed include site layout, grading design, fence design, design of substation structures, bus & switching configuration, bus design, ground grid design, design of lightning protection, equipment specification, auxiliary circuit design, wiring diagrams, and project management.
