DISTRIBUTION LINE STAKING TECHNICIAN (PORTLAND & HERMISTON, OR)

Toth & Associates has an immediate opening for a Distribution Line Staking Technician for electric utility operations. This position will be responsible for staking electrical distribution lines in accordance with the client’s specifications and standards. The job description is general in nature, not an exclusive list of all job duties. Employee may be assigned other duties as directed by Supervisor or Manager.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Perform power line assessment activities and engineering field operations required to support the design, construction, review, maintenance and accounting of overhead and underground electrical distribution facilities
  • Develop proposed distribution line extension and/or upgrade, creates electronic staking sheets and performs ROW flagging/field staking of line necessary to provide the requested service
  • Perform ROW field investigations, easement research and related support, as needed
  • Complete internal work order final reviews and assists engineering consultant reviewers with RUS Form 219 work order reviews
  • Perform system reviews which will include examination/documentation of pole-line condition, asset inventory, GPS data collection, pole tagging, joint use contacts and ROW condition assessment
  • Maintain confidential information

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience is required
  • Familiarity with GPS, total station and other survey equipment
  • Must be able to understand GIS, mapping terminology and surveying concepts
  • Must be able to interpret system maps, engineering drawings and staking sheets
  • Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn other software programs, as needed
  • Must demonstrate ability to learn and apply basic computer, technical and mathematical skills
  • Must be able to operate, maintain and safeguard expensive engineering tools and field equipment such GPS unit, transit, laser range finder, soil resistivity tester, ground resistance tester and range poles
  • Knowledge of RUS specifications and assemblies and NISC is preferred

 

TRANSMISSION ENGINEER (SPRINGFIELD, MO)

Toth & Associates, Inc. is hiring an Electrical Engineer with Transmission Experience. The Transmission Engineer will coordinate design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion.

The candidate will have a thorough knowledge of Transmission Line Engineering, including conductors, hardware, insulation, structures, foundations, electrical principles, fiber optic hardware. Candidate should be self-sufficient at performing all design aspects required to complete design of a transmission or distribution line in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including all of policies and procedures, such as Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control.

Qualifications:

  • BSCE or BSEE from an ABET-accredited engineering program is required
  • 3+ years of experience in line design experience
  • High Voltage transmission line design experience, 69kV to 230kV
  • Solid working knowledge of the PLS-CADD suite of design software tools and well versed in the design of wood, steel structures
  • EIT certification
  • PE license or able to obtain a PE license within 6 months of hire
  • Proficiency with the following programs: PLS-CADD Suite, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (especially Excel and MS Project)
  • Proficiency in writing and providing support documentation for engineering calculations Review and design power transmission lines facilities per applicable codes, standards and specifications
  • Follow industry best practices
  • Write project proposals, validate details, estimation, tracking
  • Review/perform design calculations verifying electrical clearances
  • Ability to prepare procurement packages for engineered steel poles and review applicable vendor calculations and shop drawings
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints

Civil Engineer (SPRINGFIELD, MO)

TOTH is currently seeking candidates for a Civil Engineer to join our Civil Engineering Department. This position will include project management and design responsibilities for various civil engineering projects including but not limited to site development, stormwater management, wastewater systems, potable water systems, and transportation. Responsibilities will consist of overall management of projects from design through construction administration and will include the supervision and coordination of design team personnel and resources.

Additional Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Interacting with clients and professionally representing the firm.
  • Monitor/control active projects to ensure adherence to schedules and budgets.
  • Mentoring and directing staff on technical assignments, and reviewing technical work completed by engineers under supervision.
  • Be willing to travel to project locations typically within a 200-mile radius.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer highly preferred.
  • Strong organizational & communications skills.
  • Experience with engineering consulting.
  • Experience with local, state, and federal regulatory permitting processes.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD software.
  • Familiarity with common civil engineering design software.
  • Excellent computer skills.

Water Resources Project Manager (SPRINGFIELD, mo)

TOTH is currently seeking candidates for a Water Resources Project Manager to join the Civil Engineering Department.  This position will include project management and design responsibilities for various civil engineering projects including but not limited to wastewater treatment, wastewater systems, potable water systems, and stormwater management.  Responsibilities will consist of overall management of projects from design through construction administration and will include the supervision and coordination of design team personnel and resources.

Candidates having experience in the field of wastewater treatment engineering, and having an in-depth understanding of the engineering concepts associated with wastewater treatment, and a working knowledge of civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and controls engineering related to wastewater treatment systems are highly preferred.

Substation Engineer (SPRINGFIELD, mo)

This electrical engineer will work on the design engineering and construction monitoring of substations with a focus on protection and control in relation to power delivery projects. You will be involved in all aspects of substation projects including but not limited to: completing detailed scope documents, developing one line diagrams, producing logic diagrams, conducting fault studies, proficiently performing necessary calculations, assembling relay point assignments, developing schematics, front views, and bills of material. Conducting a proper QA/QC check on a P&C package will also be required.

Must have thorough knowledge of current principles and practices of substation engineering. You will individually evaluate, select, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Work will include multiple projects of moderate to large size.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program is required
  • 3+ years of experience in the design of Medium or High Voltage Power Systems
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints
  • Experience tracking project information such as: schedules and expenditures against budgets, preparing status reports and client interface.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications

Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in the design of substations 138kV and above
  • Ability to prepare substation grounding calculations, direct stroke shielding calculations, battery & charger sizing calculations, etc.
  • Physical layout and protection & controls experience
  • Ability to work with Designer to develop substation single line diagrams, relaying & metering diagrams, DC schematic diagrams, substation plan & sections, grounding plans, etc.
  • Familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA standards as they relate to substation design. This includes the National Electrical Safety Code (ANSI – C2)
  • PE license
  • AutoCAD experience

 

Planning Engineer (SPRINGFIELD, mo)

As a planning electrical engineer at Toth & Associates, you will work on all aspects of planning studies and distribution design for electric utility systems, including: Construction Work Plans, Long Range Plans, System Studies, Environmental Reports, Power Factor Studies, Flicker Studies, Arc Flash Studies, Load Flow Analysis, Coordination and Sectionalizing Studies, Distribution Line Design, and Work Order Review.

A qualified applicant must have good interpersonal skills as the job requires management of projects and team members as well as meeting and working closely with clients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program is required
  • 3+ years of experience as a consulting engineer in electrical utility planning or 3+ years of experience as a utility system engineer
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints
  • Experience tracking project information such as: schedules, preparing status reports, client interface
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Milsoft (preferred), CYME, or Synergi
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Familiarity with the NESC and RUS standards as they relate distribution design and planning.
