Human Resource Specialist (SPRINGFIELD, mo)

Toth and Associates (TOTH) offers the opportunity to work in a growing engineering firm.  The position will perform and oversee a range of activities including, but not limited to, administration of policies and practices in the areas of employee relations, personnel files, benefits administration, employee safety, payroll processing, and company professional licensing.  Human Resources serves as a back-up for some Accounting tasks.

TOTH values attentive, resourceful team members who remain creative, organized, and professional in a range of work environments.  The successful candidate will be detail-oriented with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.  In addition to the technical skills, additional ‘soft skills’ including problem solving and both written and spoken communication skills will be integral to the role.

The HR Specialist reports to the Internal Operations Manager.  The position requires 40 hours per week + additional hours as needed.  Candidate must be able to adjust shift schedule if needed, in order to meet Payroll and other critical deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 3-5 years’ work experience in same or similar field (may be partially offset with education or experience).
  • Strong scheduling skills and organizational abilities.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proficient in Excel spreadsheets.

Favored Qualifications / Additional Useful Skills

  • Government Department of Labor regulations knowledge
  • Experience with QuickBooks, enterprise resource planning (ERP) or other accounting software
  • Access experience, including queries.
  • Workers’ Comp knowledge
  • FMLA knowledge

Staff Accountant (SPRINGFIELD, mo)

Toth and Associates (TOTH) offers the opportunity to work in a growing engineering firm.  This position will have the opportunity to learn all accounting responsibilities and may also serve as backup for human resources.

TOTH values attentive, resourceful team members who remain creative, organized, and professional in a range of work environments.  The successful candidate will be detail-oriented with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.  The position requires multi-tasking and setting priorities.

The Accounting Technician position requires 40 hours per week + additional hours as needed. This position reports to the Internal Operations Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable and Credit Cards
  • Serve as back up to Accounts Receivable and Employee Expenses
  • Maintain computer records and create new reports
  • End of month reports and related reconciliations

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 3-5-years’ work experience in same or similar field (may be partially offset with education or experience).
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills, attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with QuickBooks, enterprise resource planning (ERP) or other accounting software

Substation ENGINEER (SPRINGFIELD, mo)

This electrical engineer will work on the design engineering and construction monitoring of substations with a focus on protection and control in relation to power delivery projects. You will be involved in all aspects of substation projects including but not limited to: completing detailed scope documents, developing one line diagrams, producing logic diagrams, conducting fault studies, proficiently performing necessary calculations, assembling relay point assignments, developing schematics, front views, and bills of material. Conducting a proper QA/QC check on a P&C package will also be required.

Must have thorough knowledge of current principles and practices of substation engineering. You will individually evaluate, select, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Work will include multiple projects of moderate to large size.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program is required
  • 3+ years of experience in the design of Medium or High Voltage Power Systems
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints
  • Experience tracking project information such as: schedules and expenditures against budgets, preparing status reports and client interface.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications

Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in the design of substations 138kV and above
  • Ability to prepare substation grounding calculations, direct stroke shielding calculations, battery & charger sizing calculations, etc.
  • Physical layout and protection & controls experience
  • Ability to work with Designer to develop substation single line diagrams, relaying & metering diagrams, DC schematic diagrams, substation plan & sections, grounding plans, etc.
  • Familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA standards as they relate to substation design. This includes the National Electrical Safety Code (ANSI – C2)
  • PE license
  • AutoCAD experience

Distribution PLANNING ENGINEER (SPRINGFIELD, mo)

As a planning electrical engineer at Toth & Associates, you will work on all aspects of planning studies and distribution design for electric utility systems, including: Construction Work Plans, Long Range Plans, System Studies, Environmental Reports, Power Factor Studies, Flicker Studies, Arc Flash Studies, Load Flow Analysis, Coordination and Sectionalizing Studies, Distribution Line Design, and Work Order Review.

A qualified applicant must have good interpersonal skills as the job requires management of projects and team members as well as meeting and working closely with clients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program is required
  • 3+ years of experience as a consulting engineer in electrical utility planning or 3+ years of experience as a utility system engineer
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints
  • Experience tracking project information such as: schedules, preparing status reports, client interface
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Milsoft (preferred), CYME, or Synergi
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Familiarity with the NESC and RUS standards as they relate distribution design and planning.

Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • PE license
  • Experience with Distributed Generation
  • AutoCAD experience
  • GIS Experience with ESRI, Futura, NISC, or WindMil Map

Distribution Line Staking Technician (Portland, OR)

Toth & Associates has an immediate opening for a Distribution Line Staking Technician for electric utility operations. This position will be responsible for staking electrical distribution lines in accordance with the client’s specifications and standards. The job description is general in nature, not an exclusive list of all job duties. Employee may be assigned other duties as directed by Supervisor or Manager.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Perform power line assessment activities and engineering field operations required to support the design, construction, review, maintenance and accounting of overhead and underground electrical distribution facilities
  • Develop proposed distribution line extension and/or upgrade, creates electronic staking sheets and performs ROW flagging/field staking of line necessary to provide the requested service
  • Perform ROW field investigations, easement research and related support, as needed
  • Complete internal work order final reviews and assists engineering consultant reviewers with RUS Form 219 work order reviews
  • Perform system reviews which will include examination/documentation of pole-line condition, asset inventory, GPS data collection, pole tagging, joint use contacts and ROW condition assessment
  • Maintain confidential information

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience is required
  • Familiarity with GPS, total station and other survey equipment
  • Must be able to understand GIS, mapping terminology and surveying concepts
  • Must be able to interpret system maps, engineering drawings and staking sheets
  • Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn other software programs, as needed
  • Must demonstrate ability to learn and apply basic computer, technical and mathematical skills
  • Must be able to operate, maintain and safeguard expensive engineering tools and field equipment such as GPS unit, transit, laser range finder, soil resistivity tester, ground resistance tester and range poles
  • Knowledge of RUS specifications and assemblies and NESC is preferred
